We are seeking an ambitious, efficient, and creative paralegal to join our boutique litigation team in San Francisco.  We are a majority women owned and operated small firm with a big personality; our team loves what we do, and we do it well.  You will work closely with top-tier attorneys to prepare high stakes intellectual property matters for trial.  

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Organize and monitor large matter files including assisting with transition of case files from co- or predecessor counsel.
  • Ownership of all case correspondence, pleadings, transcripts and other case materials.
  • Ownership of trial exhibits and trial notebooks including exhibit numbering, redactions, and witness 
  • Assist with fact investigations in partnership with attorneys and other legal staff, including conducting searches of docket materials, witness interviews and transcripts, legal databases, and public records.
  • Assist in deposition preparation, including management of documents and exhibits and coordination with litigation support vendors.
  • Perform legal research and document summaries.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents including discovery, pleadings, notices, and court forms.
  • Electronically file and serve legal documents in compliance with applicable rules and procedures.

 

It goes without saying, but we will say it:  your work must be done under the guidance of attorneys, and in careful compliance with ethical guidelines and firm policies.  As a paralegal, you are responsible for monitoring and meeting deadlines in your cases, and for managing time appropriately.  We care deeply about getting it right for our clients; the right paralegal for our firm takes great pride in their work and is excited to dig in on complex matters. 

 

Ideal Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a litigation paralegal; trial experience greatly preferred.
  • Experience with PACER and electronic filing systems, document review platforms (DISCO, Everlaw, or Relativity), Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets), legal databases (Westlaw, LEXIS), and federal and state rules of civil procedure as well as local court rules.
  • Highly organized and comfortable owning large volumes of information.
  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to providing top-tier work product.
